I have not taken it apart but it appears to me that it was done on the inside cover of an old school geography book

and thought the patterning on this antique silver gessoed wooden one suited it fairly well

though would be easily taken apart

And a very loving relationship captured here, I'd say. Looks like a view to the coop in the background, and a couple of nice diagonals framing him and the bird too. Sweet and tender. 5 1 8" x 3 1 16". Clipped corners as evident, and some toning as evident.
